SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (AP) - State police have found the body of a newborn in a trash recepticle near Shelbyville and charged with the mother with murder.
Authorities found the baby Thursday night near Interstate 64. An autopsy was performed on the infant's body on Friday.
State police say the autopsy led to a warrant for the 25-year-old mother's arrest. Police say they went searching for the newborn after the mother received medical treatment at University of Kentucky Hospital.
Tonya Nicole Brown, of Lexington, is charged with murder. She was jailed in the Fayette County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond.
