Governor Signs "Golden Alert" Into Law

When a child goes missing, first responders, police and the media all the get word. That word is then spread to the public by way of an Amber Alert--all with hopes of finding the missing child.

In Kentucky, that same thing will now happen for some adults, thanks to the Golden Alert System Law. The bill was just signed into law today by Governor Steve Beshear. It's aimed at making sure Alzheimer's patients and other adults with mental disabilities who go missing can be found.

Normally a family of an adult who went missing would have to wait 48 hours and file a missing person's report.
