OWINGSVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - A woman was airlifted to UK Hospital Monday night after she lost control of her SUV and crashed on Interstate 64 in Bath County.

The crash happened just before 7 p.m. in the westbound lanes near Owingsville.

Kentucky State Police say 59-year-old JoAnne Lawson, of Mt. Sterling, was using her cell phone, when she lost control of her Ford Explorer, and struck an embankment.

Police say the vehicle then went into a spin, causing Lawson to be ejected.

There was no word on Lawson's condition Monday night. Police say she was not wearing a seat belt.

Westbound I-64 was closed for a couple of hours after the crash while police investigated.
