Police Search For Witness In Baby Murder Case

Police are asking for help from the public to track down a possible witness in a murder investigation.

Police arrested 25-year-old Tonya Brown in Lexington last week. They say she gave birth and then left her newborn baby in a trash bin behind a Chevron Gas Station in Shelby County.

There's now word that there may be a witness. Police have released a surveillance picture from inside the White Castle that is located inside the Shelbyville gas station. The woman in the picture may have seen something, but is not considered a suspect in the case.

Police started investigating after Brown sought medical treatment at the UK Medical Center. They later found the baby in the trash bin. The Shelby County Coroner pronounced the baby dead at the scene.

Brown pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to murder at an arraignment in Shelby County. She's being held on a 500 thousand dollar cash bond.

If you recognize the woman in the surveillance picture, you should call Kentucky State Police Post 12 in Frankfort at (502) 227-2221. Callers should ask for Detectives Luke Vahoose or Detective Kevin Calhoon.
