Kentucky State Police go to a southern Kentucky home to check on a child and end up making a drug arrest.

It happened early this morning at a home on Patterson Road in Laurel County, just outside London.

Trooper Don Trosper says they arrived at the home and found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a powdery substance.

Police say they looked more closely inside the home where they found two hidden rooms that housed 54 marijuana plants, prescription drugs and several stolen road signs, along with other items.

43-year old Rodney Craig Jefferies was arrested and charged with Cultivation of Marijuana (5 plants or more) Gun Enhanced, Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, Possession of a Radio Capable of Receiving Police Messages, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Stolen Property (under $300) and Possession of Stolen Property (over $300). Jeffries is being at the Laurel County Detention Center on a $2500.00 cash bond

A child was removed from the home and is now with child protective services.

KSP says this is the second drug bust this week that involves the growing of marijuana indoors.
