CYNTHIANA, KY -- Two adjacent Cynthiana homes were set on fire within hours of each other this weekend. The first, at 110 North Locust Street, was gutted from the fire, which was discovered shortly after 9 p.m. Friday, reports the Lexington Herald-Leader in its Sunday edition.
Cynthiana Fire Department Assistant Chief Charles Carson told a reporter for the newspaper, the home was vacant and that a witness saw a man go into the home shortly before the fire was spotted.
The owner of the home, a Paris resident, was installing new locks on the residence she also owns next door when the second fire was noticed. She and the tenant in a downstairs apartment in the two-apartment home saw smoke coming down the stairs, the newspaper reports.
Carson told the Lexington Herald-Leader, the upstairs apartment sustained a few thousand dollars worth of damage.
