Police arrest suspect in Richmond shooting

RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - Police have made an arrest for a shooting in a Richmond neighborhood.

Police say they arrested the suspect, 21-year-old Tony Gay, Tuesday afternoon.

Richmond Police say the Madison County Sheriff's Office found Gay late Tuesday afternoon on Canterbury Road.

Police say deputies were called there for a report of a man with a gun in the area.

While investigating that report, deputies say they found Gay, and arrested him without incident.

Police say Gay was not the subject of the complaint to which deputies originally responded to, and he was not armed at the time.

Investigators say Gay shot a 21-year-old man Monday afternoon near the intersection of Race and Spring Streets.

Surveillance cameras at a nearby business captured the shooting on tape.

Police have charged Gay with assault, wanton endangerment, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Police say the victim was taken to UK Hospital, and is expected to recover.
