ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (AP) - An Iraq war veteran pleaded not guilty to killing a co-worker with a hammer, then burning her body and dumping it in a rural area.
Hardin Circuit Judge Ken Howard set a Feb. 16 trial date for 27-year-old Jeremy Shields. Shields is charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence in the Jan. 21 slaying of Wendy Sue Logsdon.
Police say Shields used a claw hammer to kill Logsdon inside his parents' home in Radcliff while they were out of town, then dumped the body in Hart County. Shields pleaded not guilty in Hardin Circuit ourt on Monday.
