There were two major developments on Wednesday regarding the company that supplies water to Lexington.
The public service commission will issue a decision Friday about whether Kentucky American Water can build a treatment plant in Owen County and a pipeline that would connect it to Lexington.
Kentucky American wants to build the intake downstream along the Kentucky River to supplement the local water supply.
Meanwhile, American Water was being publicly traded on Wall Street for the first time on Wednesday.
The stock was first offered at $21.50 a share and hung around the 20 dollar mark most of the morning.
