RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - They say it's shaken their normally peaceful neighborhood.
People who live in a Richmond neighborhood are reacting after a shooting that happened there Friday morning.
Richmond Police say a woman was shot at a home on Meadowlark Drive, off Barnes Mill Road, just after 7 a.m.
People living nearby say they were awakened by the lights of emergency vehicles.
"I said 'What in this world is going on,'" someone living nearby, who didn't want to be identified, told WKYT. "I didn't know. I sure didn't."
Police say the victim was shot in the leg. She was taken to UK Hospital with what are described as non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation following the shooting lasted most of the day. Richmond Police were at the scene for more than ten hours Friday.
One neighbor noticed a lot of activity at the home in the weeks before the shooting.
"Lots of times I'd look out and see all the traffic and it'd make me nervous. You can't tell about people," the neighbor said.
Police say they've had a hard time getting the people involved in the shooting to cooperate. However, they expect charges to be filed in this case.
This was the second shooting in Richmond this week.
On Monday, police say a 21-year-old man was shot on Race Street. He suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police arrested the suspect in that case.
