RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - A crash on Interstate 75 in Madison County backed up traffic for hours Tuesday night.

Police say around 6 p.m., the driver of a truck hauling a trailer crashed in the northbound lanes near exit 90 in Richmond.

Police say they received calls about the driver swerving on I-75 minutes before the crash.

We're told the driver lost control, went across three lanes of traffic, then hit a concrete barrier.

"Fortunately, there was nobody hurt," Madison County Sheriff's Deputy Willard Reardon said. "At that time of day, busy time of day, people going home, it was very fortunate that we didn't have a serious accident or some serious injuries."

Police arrested the driver of the truck and charged him with DUI. His name has not been released.

At 10 p.m., dispatchers in Richmond told WKYT the crash had been cleared, and traffic had returned to normal on I-75.
