LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Doctors say it's a miracle she survived, and her recovery is just as remarkable.

For the first time, a cheerleader from Kentucky, who fell five stories out of a window and survived, is sharing her story.

In October, investigators say 19-year-old Paige Raque, of Louisville, fell from an apartment window near the Penn State campus, where she's a student and cheerleader.

Doctors say she suffered many broken bones, along with brain damage.

However, they say her recovery is ahead of schedule. She's being treated at a rehab facility in Louisville.

Raque says her injuries have given her a new perspective on life.

"It's just made me a more determined person," Raque said during a news conference Tuesday. "I keep my eyes set on what I have for the future, and just keep going towards that."

Raque is expected to be able to go home Wednesday, for the first time since her fall.

She wants to return to Penn State next year.
