Police: Woman tried to use counterfeit money at bank

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police have arrested a woman after they say she tried to use counterfeit money at a bank.

Police charged 37-year-old Sandra Cox with criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Police say she tried to exchange fake $10 and $20 bills, for larger bills, at the Central Bank on Southland Drive in Lexington.

Police say the teller quickly realized the money was fake and Cox ran off.

They say they used surveillance pictures from the bank to find and arrest Cox.

Cox has been lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
