Project Green-Ozone Pollution And Low 'Carbon' Diet

By  |

The 2008 American Lung Association's report was released Thursday, ranking the most polluted cities in the U.S. Los Angeles, California topped the chart as the most polluted city.

In Kentucky, ozone pollution worsened in about five counties. However, almost a dozen improved, including Fayette, Jessamine, and Pulaski counties.

Aside from pollution, there are also new ways to go green by what you eat!

Because our food system relies on fossil fuels for transporting and processing, carbon dioxide is emitted daily.

Anything from cows, sheep, and goats are considered high carbon foods. Fruits, vegetables, grains, and small shell fish are considered low carbon foods. Bon Appetit Management created the "Low Carbon Diet."

Helene York, Bon Appetit Management, says, "One-third of the world's greenhouse gases come from the food system....We're educating consumers how they can make different food choices to reduce climate change."

The amount of animal protein eaten by Americans accounts for an estimated 6 percent of total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions.
