RUSSELL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Police have arrested a Russell County sheriff's deputy following a burglary Friday.
Kentucky State Police have charged 26-year-old Deputy Nick Bertram with burglary, official misconduct, tampering with physical evidence, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Friday, police say they received a report of a burglary on Lakeway Drive in Russell Springs.
Once there, police say they also found what appeared to be a hazardous waste overpack that was suspected to be evidence in a Russell County Sheriff's Office investigation.
Police called in a meth lab cleanup unit, which police say found a one step meth lab in the overpack.
Police say they obtained a search warrant for Bertram's residence, where they say they found items related to the burglary, as well as multiple meth lab overpacks, which police suspect to be sheriff's office evidence.
They say they also found a one step meth lab and a large amount of drug paraphernalia at Bertram's home.
Bertram has been lodged in the Russell County Jail.
