Economic Stimulus Check Schedule Save Email Print

The Internal Revenue Service says it started directly depositing economic stimulus checks Monday April 28th. Checks started being mailed out in early May.

Click here to see the update schedule for economic stimulus payments.

You cannot get an economic stimulus check, the IRS says, unless you file a 2007 tax return. 130 million household are eligible for the checks. Many individuals can expect a $600, while married couples receive $1,200. Parents may receive an additional $300 for each child.

You can calculate how much you will likely receive by clicking here.

The IRS says you will get your stimulus check by direct deposit if that is what you checked for your tax refund when you filed your tax return. If you did not check the box for direct deposit, the IRS will mail you a check.

The date for issuing and sending the economic stimulus chesh according to the schedule for the last two digits has come and gone plus 10 days. How do I know if a check has been issued?

Posted by: louise Location: new mexico on Jun 10, 2008 at 03:57 PM
I think that the government did this so called nice thing in order to collect money for themselves. I was due to get $600.00 but because I owe back taxes as I 'am sure three millon other people do as well. The government is keeping what we owe them first. Not for current year but never the less. I do not think they would have done this if there was not something in it for them. Sufice to say I'am only getting 30.00 for my economic stimulas check Bush and Uncle Sam kept the rest!

Ok, Ok, Ok, lets quit bashing Mindy now. like I said before, I do not know her and I'm not trying to cover for her at all. If Mindy meant anyting bad from her comments she will have to answer them and so will you for not letting go of it. We have all decided there are some lazy people Right? and we have come the conclusion that a little help never hurt right? Next how many of us are going to use the check for what it was meant for? I would almost bet any of you my check that it will not be spent on catching up that credit card bill you might be behind on or that car payment. Be honest am I right or wrong? If a person could take a survey at our local Wal-mart I would be willing to bet that 80% of the people that recieved or will recieve there check will spend 75% of theirs at our local Wal-Mart on things they probaly do not need. Now don't get me wrong I'm bad for purchasing a CD or DVD that I don't need. But when it's all gone how many of us will complain that Bush should of give MORE...

Face it people, times are tough for quite a few people. I don't care if you need, don't need or don't want the check. Fact is, WE (the people of the United States) have it far better than people in any other country I know. Granted, I have my complaints, but in the big scheme of things, I would rather live here than anyplace I've seen during my career in the military. I've been on relief missions to places I didn't know existed, let alone, proved inhabitable. We have it good, we have it great, but we have become so complacent that we get bent out of shape over the smallest things. Before you or I condemn anyone else, you nor I DON'T KNOW everyone's situation. Some started out poor, some started out rich, some were middle of the road. If you look at the big picture, everyone has a CHANCE which is something those in third world countries DON'T have. Cry me a river if you want but I'll take the check and donate it to help the poor. I don't need it personally, but I need it to help them

how many people spent their stimulus check on that stuff that Bud Mackey had hiding in his shoe when he got busted?

Posted by: Amanda Location: Lavergne, TN on May 19, 2008 at 10:43 AM
ok This is for Mindy...I have 3 children and a husband who works very hard to make a good home for our children to grow up, We do not get Gov. help but we are also just barely making it. I don't think that our problem is lazy adults, I think our problem is that we have people that think they are better than others b/c their parents were rich. Now I am not saying that your parents are rich I am saying that you can't judge people for getting help to make sure that their children have food on the table and clothes on their back. Maybe if you had to walk a mile in their shoes, you would feel diffrent. I don't think that you are a bad person and I do know that their are people that take advantage of the help that is out there, but there are also single mothers who were left with nothing...not to mention the $4.00 gas and $2.00 bread. Did you not think that the problem with America is the fact that prices are going up, but pay is still the same and that is why people need food stamps?

Street Survivor....You seem like the only person with the right idea on this post. It just goes to show that you can't make the majority of people happy no matter what.

You people are not right!!! Quit bashing each other about grammar, how easy is it to hit the wrong key on a key board? Guess what thats what spell check is for, who cares if someone misspells a word, we are human. In my whole life I have only heard of one person that walked on water. If you are smart you will vote (R) how in the world can you people vote for a man that will not acknowledge the american flag or a woman that will not stop until all of us hunters don't have a gun to hunt with. You bash President Bush, he didn't have to give us this check and when he did you want to know why you didn't get more (HELLO). How in the world can you support a political party that supports the morals that they support? The next time you yell vote Hillary look at your child and ask yourself can I really support the immoral issues these people support.

Before you bash the "grammer" (as you put it) of anyone, you need to look in the mirror. The word is spelled "grammar" not "grammer."

Got an email from Turbo Tax Saturday. It says that if you had fees deducted from your regular tax refund, that you will get a paper check instead of direct deposit..regardless of whether you had direct deposit with your regular refund...so anyone that did that will get their check according to the mailing schedule....

the stimulus check is only sorry payoff from the goverment to try to make up for their incomptence in running the country. Yes we all could use the money especially middle and lower class incomes. instead of a bandaid on the economy why not start a permanent fix by taxing the rich reevaluate fradulent social security claims put a cap on what gas companies can do and add all of what can be gained to min wage unless we all stand for what our forefathers did we all will continue to lose

I read the comment that mindy wrote and I don't think its right to attack people the way she did. And judging from her grammer, I think she needs to use her stimulus check to get a better education, "fod stamps", come on. She probably also has one of those "W" the president stickers on her car. She must not have any problem whatsoever paying $4.00 a gallon for gas. Everyone is suffering right now, and if things don't change we're all going to be in a world of hurt.

Sore Loserman, DUBYA was selected by the Supreeme Court in 2000! name another time the Supreme Court stuck thier beak in and decided an election! With out the electorial college republicans would not get elected! GORE won the popular vote in 2000! THE PEOPLE MADE A CHOICE THEY DIDN'T WANT BUSH! WE need to be less dependant on oil and coal and give incentives for electric companies to start using alternative energy sources! Something that will never happen with republicans who are responsible for 90% of the problems in this country!

Posted by: Lori Location: KY on May 16, 2008 at 12:26 PM
I think that the stimulus is basically "robbing Peter to pay Paul". It is going to put the country into a deeper hole. I mean where is this money coming from when the country is suppose to be strapped?

Posted by: John Location: Lebanon on May 16, 2008 at 10:43 AM
Per the schedule I was to get my direct deposit by May 9th.I've still not received it and when I called all I get is a recorded message. Tryed going on line but it says no information found. I sure miss the day when you actuly talked to a person.

Posted by: June Location: London on May 16, 2008 at 10:01 AM
Is is true that if you chose a 'refund anticipation loan' or RAL that your stimulus payment will be a paper check instead of direct deposit?

Posted by: Lynn Location: Letcher Co. on May 16, 2008 at 09:51 AM
To Mindy: I agree with Unknown. I also get food stamps to help feed my children. I am a divorced mother with an ex who feels he doesn't have "to pay me" for his kids. I work really hard at my job pulling over 40 hours a week. By no means am I lazy but I am grateful for the assistance of food stamps to help with food and KChip because without it my children would not have proper healthcare. You really need to watch what you say about people being lazy becuase you can't speak for everyone. Also, learn how to spell. You may be so rich that you don't need "well fare and fod stamps" but you should at least be able to spell them if you are that well educated to know so much about other people.

Posted by: Street Surviver Location: Ky on May 16, 2008 at 09:00 AM
By reading over some of the comments below I agree and dis-agree with some of the comments in reference to govermental help. I believe if you are phyically able to work then work and if your annual income is not enough to cover you then yes you need assistance, I do not have a problem with that at all. I know and so do you that there is lazy people out there that want to milk anybody and everybody they can out of anything they can get, these people will have answer for these actions. So I don't feel like Mindy ment that everyone is lazy, I don't know this lady and I'm not trying to cover for her. We do not need to be fight and bickering between each other we need to figure out how to get a hold on isses such as gas prices etc... Lets put our families first which means let all get jobs no matter where there at, if you don't want to work for minimum wage job then go some where else, I hear on the radio all time that ICG is holding job fairs begging for mining help. Thats your decision!!

Posted by: Bobbie Jean Location: KY on May 16, 2008 at 07:53 AM
I'm happy to git that there check, If it wasn't for that thing, I'd only have my food stamps, welfare check, WIC coupons, and disability to live on. I ain't workin for a measly mininum wage job, so this is alots better for me and my kids.

Posted by: Unknown Location: Ky on May 15, 2008 at 08:33 PM
This is to the women named Mindy. I was reading your comment. I get foodstamps. But I'm not a lazy adult. I work everyday taking care of my 3 year old and my 6 month old. My husband works everyday but to make ends meet we have to get some help from the goverment. You shouldn't say that every person that uses that stuff are lazy because you don't know that. Maybe we can't all be as rich as you are or whatever your problem is but you really need to watch the way you say things...because the sound of it you really don't know what you are talking about!

Not complaining yet, but I was suppose to get my check thru direct deposit on 5/9, but did not happen. I have since found out that there was an unexpected glitch that caused this. I was told that since I had my taxes done by H&R Block and had the fees taken out of my refund instead of paying them out of pocket, this caused the glitch about depositing the money. Said I would receive a paper check, but that I would still get one. Just thought that I would share this info with others that this may have happened to. I guess...Better late, than NEVER. The money will be greatly appreciated when it gets here because it is something that we actually didn't even have to get. So be Thankful!!!

Posted by: Thomas Location: Independence on May 15, 2008 at 04:21 PM
I keep hearing about how high prices are and yes they are high but you people keep talking like America is the only country suffering. 45 other countries have higher gas prices than the United States. The real problem I think we have is the shrinking dollar. Our currency is worth nothing. But I do believe much of our problem can be solved if people go to work. Stop being lazy and get a job. Good Day.

Posted by: mindy Location: ky on May 15, 2008 at 02:32 PM
reading some of the comments beolow, thats whats wrong with America they think everything should be handed to them on a silver platter. Be thankful for what you have and make the best of life. The only real problem that we have is there are lazy people who wont work we support them by well fare and fod stamps. If you want to be mad at someone be mad at the lazy adults in the world. But there is the other story if parents would raise there children to responsible and hard working we would not have this problem...

How can you find out how much stimulus check, when you do what it tells you to do and it says you did not due it right and you followed the directions given.

Posted by: Lea Location: Ky on May 15, 2008 at 12:45 PM
Some of you think that we don't work hard for our money. Let me tell you something, I have worked for over 19 years and I feel that I and alot more working people deserves more money. I am thankful for what I will be getting, but we should get more, like I said before (LOOK AT THE PRICES OF THINGS THAT HAS TO BE BOUGHT WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT IT) the goverment doesn't have to work about the high cost they make enough money from all of the tax payers money. Yes I do beleive the goverment could do something about the high gas prices, it all started to begin getting higher after 9/11/2000. Check the Petroleum Navigator web site and little by little did the prices rises as much as they have up to now. Who decides what the barrel of oil will cost tomorrow? Thats what I want to know.

Posted by: Marie Location: kentucky on May 15, 2008 at 11:22 AM
I have read everyones comments there only a few of u that are not acting like 5th graders. I am thankful I live in america the land of the free it could be worse. I am thankful the president cares enough about us to help everyone out.So what if we have to buy gas and food it's money you didn't have before. So thank god you live in a country that still cares.

I do not understand how this works. I owed tax for 2007, and had my taxes automatically deducted from my checking account, which is an electronic transfer, so I should have received my auto deposit rebate by now because the IRS has all of my bank account info. This is very disappointing to me. I paid my taxes, was promised a rebate, and haven't received it yet. The Pres. got my hopes up and now didn't follow through.

Posted by: me Location: somerset on May 15, 2008 at 06:37 AM
To short a check, if you got your refund via direct deposit but had any fees (ex the cost of turbo tax) deducted from your refund you will be getting a paper check. If this is the case you will need to look at the check by mail date to see when your check is due.

Posted by: Ace Location: Lawrenceburg on May 15, 2008 at 06:16 AM
The rebate check schedule is backwards. The people that received a refund are first and those of us that had to pay additional tax will be last.

Posted by: Bob Location: whitesburg on May 14, 2008 at 11:43 PM
wake up people, the president has nothin to do with the price of oil. he gets the blame for everything but the blame needs to go to the house and senate. if they would try to work together they could get things done. but they had rather see this country sink before they would vote across party lines. all the house and senate want to do is try to make Bush look bad so they can say i told you so. we need term limits on the house and senate so we could get some of these people out of there. they have been in office so long they think they own washington, and if we had term limits maybe they would try to work together. all they do now is as soon as they get in office they start campaining for the next election. they spend all their time campaigning instead of trying to solve some of the problems that face this country.and all this campaign money comes from big buissness and oil companys and they don't give it for nothing. they get repaid well for their campaign money

Uhhh, Steve in Lexington, the address for the White House is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington DC, not 1400. Just an FYI...As for the person who claimed they were supposed to get 900 and only got 600, maybe you owed back taxes or are delinquent on a student loan? If so, they will take it and then send what is left over (if any) to you. The rest of you complaining about the money, get over it, something is better than nothing. I'll just take my $1800 and spend it, doing my part to help the economy and all, you know.

what kinda ppl complain about free money.. and then throw down the man that aranged you to get the free money.. really what kind of ppl do that.. if you dont want the check.. give it to me ill gladly take it off your hands.. and how is it Mr. George W Bush's fault that gas prices are going up... it isnt.. the president cant interfere with business ECONOMICS 101 its the OIL COMPANYS and no its not bc the oil goes up so drasticly in a week its bc they know they can over charge... its supply in demand really they have the product.. we need it.. so they can price it how ever they want.. but something does need to be done.. bc its driving grocery prices and everything else up.. it takes fuel to ship the stuff.. its the oil companies ruining the economey not GEORGE BUSH!!! no wonder ppl make fun of ky..they talk bout stuff and dont evan have a clue

So just deal with it and go on it's not like you really worked so hard for it like most do.

To (Posted by: jerry ). No if you get S.S.I, you will not get the check. S.S.I is unearned income. It has to be earned income to receive the check.

Posted by: Lea Location: Ky on May 14, 2008 at 01:06 PM
I'm glad to be getting the stimulus check when I get it, but by the time the package was proposed and signed all of the prices of gas, food, utilities, and almost everything else has gone up double. The package could have been for at least double. I would like to know exactly why the gas prices are as high as they are. Now don't give me that bull that the cost of getting the oil has went up that much. It's all because of what the oil companies want to charge and not to mention IRAN.

I was supposed to receive my stimulus check by 5/9...I still haven't received it. I've been trying to call the toll free number on the IRS website just to get an automated message that they are not accepting my call due to an overwhelming number of calls. I just want to know where my money is! I'm a divorced mother who works full time to try to take care of my children. I really need this money.

Posted by: Thomsa Location: Independence on May 13, 2008 at 05:08 PM
There is hope but we have start now seeking alternative fuel and when something is safe we have to stop listening to fools in the so called environmental groups who would have us all live back in the stone age if they had their choice. They protest everything yet they drive there oil burning cars, live in their homes made of wood, and enjoy all the modern luxuries of life that technology brings. If they were true to their ideas the only mode of transportation they would use is there two feet and they would live in caves. But they don't so there hypocrites. But thats another story. Bottom line we have to be bold in developing new technolgy that derives our fuel from home or cheaper choices abroad and we can not look to washington alone to save us. It will take a combined effort of those in washington along with economist, scientist, and everyday citizens to solve the complexe energy problems we face. One person alone, no not even if that person is the President, can save us.

Posted by: Thomas Location: Independence on May 13, 2008 at 05:01 PM
In fact it will take a multitude of complex thinkers and brave pioneers to better our situation. We need a nation wide goal to wean us from oil. Something akin to the push to get to the moon in the 1960's. In fact I don't think it will be one alternative fuel that wins out but perhaps a multitude. One promising possibilty, and one that could really benefit Eastern Kentucky, is the liquid coal fuel technology. Imagine running your vehicle on liquid coal from Eastern Kentucky. The economic benefits are obvious. Also we need a push for more Nuclear Power plants. The so called green environmentalist have scared people out of one of the cleanist forms of fuel available. Nuclear Power is safe, clean, and limitless. Other countries laugh at us for abandoning Nuclear Power Plants. It is going to take a monumental effort to wean us from foreign oil. But we absolutely have to seek a way to do it. You also have vehicles that run on natural gas as well.

Posted by: Thomas Location: Independence on May 13, 2008 at 04:52 PM
Well I won't politic to much but if you think Hillary or Obama can save you then keep on dreaming. The only choice, in my humble opinion, is McCaine. But no he will not save us either. The economy is out of our hands. The President Effects the economy very little. Yet he or she is given far to much credit or far to much blame when the economy is in the tank. The best thing a President can do for the economy is by creating a national energy Policy with goals that will be met in the future. We should have a goal to get off oil, for the most part, in 20 years. If a President made such a goal and stuck to that plan and invested in the technology we could start reaping benefits in about 10 years. But there is no immediate fix. And cheaper gas alone would not solve all the problems such as the failing dollar. It is a complex issue and no one person will save us in the short term. Oh by the way did you read my last post. They are 45 other countries with higher gas than the U.S.

I get SSI do I qualify for stimulus

Posted by: Working Poor Location: Winchester on May 13, 2008 at 03:54 PM
For those of you who do not want/need your stimulus check, I'd be glad to take it off your hands for you. I have several bills I could pay off, a teenager getting ready to go to college next year, one in college now, and tons of medical bills to boot. Gas prices are going up based on "scare tactics" of a possible shortage if one middle eastern country or another reduces production. Blame the people on wall street for the price of gas, and thus, the price of groceries. The market overall is down people, and the less we spend frivilously, the less "wasted driving" we do, the prices will come down. Then, lower gas prices mean better prices for groceries. Until then, tighten your belts and start driving responsibly, and budget by going to the grocery Once a week, and sticking to your lists. You'll be surprised how much you can save-I was. Clip coupons, go online to shortcuts.com-get coupons loaded onto your kroger cards & others, lots of ways to save 'til a new president is in office!

WELL I GOT MY DIRECT DEP LAST FRIDAY AND IT WAS ONLY $600, WHERE I TOOK ALL THE TALK THAT I WOULD GET $900. 600 SINGLE AND 300 PER CHILD, WELL WRONG. ALL THAT WAS IN THE PAPERS AND TV JUST MADE IT SEEMS LIKE UNLESS YOU MADE LOTS OF MONEY YOU WOULD GET 600 SINGLE AND 300 PER CHILD. YEAH I KNOW I DIDNT HAVE IT, BUT NOT THAT I DO IT WILL GO FOR GAS TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO WORK. SINCE EVERY WEEK THE GAS GOES UP, BUT I HAVENT SEEN BY PAY CHECK GO UP IN THE LAST FIVES YEARS. I THINK WE WERE WORK SHOULD REALIZE THAT THE COST OF EVERYTHING HAS GONE UP, SO WHY CANT WE EVER GET A RAISE. ALL I HAVE HEARD AT MY WORK IS WE DIDNT DO SO WELL THIS YEAR SO NO RAISES. I LOOK AT THIS WAY IF WE HAVE DONE BAD MONEY WISE FOR 5 YEARS THEN WE JUST NEED TO CLOSE THE DOORS! WAIT WHAT AM I THINKING,WERE I WORK ITS THE OWNER AND FAMILY WHO HAS MONEY SO THAT DONT SEE US REGULAR WORKS AS NEEDING ANY RAISES. WELL I NEED A RAISES AND PLEASE WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT GAS. GIVE UP FOOD FOR GAS TO GET TO WORK!

I think that it is great that we are getting free money. It will help many families pay the bills. This check is not going to help the economy. The solution to the economy is to lower gas prices. That is the simpilest solution. They also need to raise minimum wage. So come on people and get your heads on straight and vote for hillary or else we are doomed!!!!!

I second the bla, bla. If you people don't want your check then send it back or donate it. It is a shame that people hate the president so much there complaining about free money. By the way the Honerable George W. Bush has kept us from being attacked again. How many more attacks have happened in the United States since September 11th? NONE! Zero attacks in the U.S. I say I would rather fight them over their than over here. Stop your whining, cash your check, spend your money, and put your self on a budget so you can save for the hard times to come. Yes the economy is poor but I believe that has less to do with the president and more to do with the state of the world in General. In Europe those poore folks are paying $10.00 dollars per gallon. The U.S. does not even rank in the top ten when it comes to high gas prices. Where do we rank? Number 45! They are 45 other countries that have higher gas prices than the U.S. So again stop your whining. Good Day, Thomas.

my comment is the petition to honor eight belles i've nothing against horses or any other sporting event but what about our fallen soldiers and all the victim's who die from natural disaster events i believe we've all got our priorities messed up

If you don't want your stimulus check, then by all means, sign your name on the back and write "make payable to George W Bush" and send it to the White House, 1400 Pennsylvania Ave, Washington, DC. I'm sure George will be glad to invest your money in more oil company stock so that he can make a couple more billion before he leaves office next January. Does that sound ridiculous enough for you? As for me, I'll be GLAD to take the check and use it for gas, groceries, bills, etc because it's non-taxable, and is 600 dollars that I didn't have before. Although this stimulus is not going to help the economy in any way, it does help me by giving me 600 more dollars towards everyday items that I'm going to have to buy anyways.

why would Hilary take vice-president why not the other way around. She is strong, equal, and respects this country, will stand for our song. salutes our flag. she has a strong voice and I respect her because she is a WOMAN.. SO LET THE MAN TAKE VICE-PRESIDENT.because it will take a strong leader to turn this nation into what it once was when her husband was in there.

Stop complaining. I'm glad to get this little "measly" check. It's money that we normally wouldn't get so I'm thankful to Lord to get it. You should be too.

Posted by: mj Location: lex on May 8, 2008 at 12:57 PM
Hillary will never accept a Vice Presidency position. She wants all or none. Both her and Obama are to inexperienced to change anything. She has beeen working on her health care plan for 15 years....have you seen the changes? I haven't. I say "go McCain".

Posted by: Zatoichi Location: Richmond on May 8, 2008 at 12:55 PM
By all means let's put both of those Dumocrats in the highest offices in the land. They will give us all we want and more, make those mean ol rich people pay for everything. Rev Wright will be sleeping in the Lincoln Bedroom and spraying graffiti on the walls. Hillary will give us all health care because we deserve it. Once these two are in office we will get exactly what we deserve, unfortunately that won't be what we thought it would be.

Well the checks will be good...no so good that some have to wait until July to get them tho...and YES about we need a president that doesnt own the oil

Posted by: not fooled Location: pikeville on May 7, 2008 at 08:38 PM
This check means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Personally, I don't feel like this measley check will work as a "pacifier" for Americans. Again, not fooled or certainly not impressed...

Posted by: betty Location: barbourville ky on May 7, 2008 at 05:42 PM

Didn't the United Soviet Socalist Republic already try that James? :)

Posted by: Anonymous on May 7, 2008 at 02:35 PM
I agree pull the soliders out of Iraq. Our children are starving in the land of plenty. We need a president fast! We are going under here, fighting for OIL, let's say that again OIL! That's what all this war is over. OIL....... And who owns the big OIL BUISNESSES? HUMMMMM you're one and only.....

Posted by: JAMES R. PHILLIPS Location: London on May 7, 2008 at 12:52 PM
I feel it time for Hillary to concede and take the Vice Presidency. They both need to work toward the "Change for America" and get the Republicans out of the office. We need economic solvency, a energy referendum, Health Care for the Nation, and a solution for the War in Iraq.
