The Scott County community of Stamping Ground is mourning the loss of a well known teen.
19-year old Jeremy Marks was killed after a car crash on KY 227 just south of Stamping Ground Friday. Police say Marks lost control of the SUV he was driving, hit a tree, and was thrown into a pasture about 50 feet away. This loss is hitting the community hard because the college student was very involved in public life. He was a former Scott County High basketball player and at his church he was a deacon and superintendent of the Sunday school.
One of Marks' friends, Lea Hammond spoke out about the young man, “He will never be forgotten. He was an amazing guy. He was perfect, perfect in everyway that he could be perfect."
Marks graduated last year from Scott County High School and was a member of the 2007 state basketball championship team.
There is no word on when Marks' funeral will be held.

Jeremy was one of the most responsible, and honorable young men that I have ever met. I had alot of troubles, and somehow he could always sense when things weren't right and he always made me feel better about myself as a person. I played ball with him on numerous occasions. He went to church just a few doors from my house. He used to come up and play around with my 2 babies before he went home from church. what a fantastic young example for young and old to follow! Jeremy, your heart and spirit will never be forgotten!! You are and always will be one of God's greatest gifts to this earth. You will always bring a light onto everyones heart and put a smile on thier face. I will never forget you my friend! You have been and always will be an insiration to me!!! Thank You from my heart for blessing me and honoring me as your friend...You will be remembered always!!! Paul
