Police say three inmates were checked out from the Bourbon County Detention center to work at the Millersburg Fire Department.

Two of them 33 year old Shane Carson of Jessamine County and 29 year old Michael McDowell of Estill County were left unattended while they painted the fire truck.

"Three signed out this morning, one was working with a local officer on a different project and when he came back to check on the other two, they were gone", said KSP Sgt. Brian Bowling.

The two inmates got away in a Millersburg fire and rescue vehicle.
"They stole a a 1995 black Ford Bronco with Millersburg Fire and Rescue written across it", said Sgt. Bowling

Police say McDowell and Carson had been a part of the work release program for several months.

McDowell was originally in for wanton endangerment and Carson for criminal possession of a forged instrument. They both face additional escape and theft charges.

Police say these men are considered dangerous and should not be apprehended.

"Police say these men are considered dangerous and should not be apprehended." Why was someone who was considered dangerous unattended and on work release in the first place??

Let's see if the judge has enough nerve to throw the book at them once they are apprehended. I highly doubt it though.
