OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) - A western Kentucky high school student has been charged with third-degree assault following an altercation with a teacher on Friday.

Police said the incident at Hopkins County Central High began when the student left the classroom over a disciplinary issue. The student was trying to force her way back into the classroom when the teacher tried to stop her. The student then struck the teacher in the face and head.

The identities of the student and the teacher have not been released. Both parties were taken to the Regional Medical Center's emergency room, where they were treated and released. The student is lodged in the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center.

Teachers now and days are only there for a payday anyway not to teach school. Leave the children alone and let them stay home. School is not like the old school.
