DANVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A central Kentucky woman has pleaded guilty to four counts of wanton endangerment after her 18-month-old nephew tested positive for cocaine last fall.

Jessica Coffman of Danville faces a recommended sentence of three years in prison if she fails to complete a five-year diversion program.

The 25-year-old Coffman and her sister, 21-year-old Ashley Carrier, had four children in the house when police arrived after the boy started acting strangely. He later tested positive for cocaine at Ephraim McDowell Medical Center.

No cocaine was found in the house, though the children did have access to prescription drugs.

Prosecutors say Carrier is still negotiating the terms of a plea agreement and could enter a plea next month.

I THINK IT IS SAD WHEN A CHILD HAS TO SUFFER FROM THE NEGLEGNCE OF A MOTHER AND AUNT. I HOPE THEY GET WHAT THEY DESERVE.

how can anybody think that a smack on the wrist will justify the cause what if the child has side-effets later on then we blame social services right because 21&24YEAR OLDS DONT KNOW RIGHT FROM WRONG THEY JUST CAN VOTE DRINK AND GIVE DRUGS TO BABIES.

I would like to commend the social workers who did a great job on this case even though the news mostly bashes these hard working individuals for less than factual information.
