Both north and southbound lanes of I-75 are back open at the 68 milemarker in Rockcastle County after a deadly accident involving a tractor trailer.

Police say the driver of the truck was 48-year-old Tommy Kelley of London, Kentucky. He was driving for Somerset Food Service. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Kelley was behind the wheel of his tractor trailer and came upon a non-injury accident just after midnight Monday and rear-ended a Ford pickup truck. The pickup had stopped in the road as a result of the non-injury crash.

Police say Kelley lost control, flipped and hit a concrete bridge overpass. Police say the impact killed Kelley.

A passenger in the tractor trailer went to the hospital, as well as the driver of the pickup truck.

Police closed the overpass, Kentucky 1505, in order to inspect the bridge. It was later declared safe.

Police also had the southbound lanes of I-75 closed until 6:30 a.m. The northbound lanes were back open a few hours later. While they were shut down, traffic was re-routed through Berea.
