Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama has canceled a scheduled appearance in Lexington.
He was scheduled to speak at an event at the nursing school on the campus of the University of Kentucky on Tuesday morning.
His campaign sent out an e-mail on Monday afternoon, saying he wouldn't appear in Lexington. He'll return to Washington, D.C on Monday night because he reportedly has some important votes to make.
Obama's last visit to Lexington was in August.
The Illinois senator will still make a scheduled appearance at an event in Louisville on Monday night. He'll speak at a rally at the Kentucky International Convention Center.
Voters in West Virginia headed to the polls on Tuesday. Hillary Clinton is widely expected to win that contest, but Obama still has the lead when it comes to the popular vote.

J R in Prestonsburg: if you haven't heard what Obama proposes in foreign policy and any issues he takes a stand on, I would suggest doing a little web search. It's a sad thought that many (Dems) would vote McCain over Obama (if he gets the nod). The country is in a mess, I guess some want to keep it going for another 4 years.

Of all the politicians that have come and gone he is by the far the worst to speak of change and has never said exactly what that change would be, no offence to Keith but I have never heard what he proposes for foriegn policy his lack of knowledge should automaticly disqualify from being a presidental candidate but for some strange reason he is very popular with many. I saw on tv long ago that if the democrats ever gain the oval office they would have to run Southern moderate but they can't seem to put it together. I am not a fan of OHB nor Hillary so my choice is obvious

Eddie in Pikesville-- you're entitled to your opinions, but not your own facts. Obama favors some increase in the payroll tax only on those making more than $97,000 plus annually. Currently, people making 40,000 pay the same amount of payroll tax as those making $100,000 or $1,000,000. Also, while retirement funds are kept in workers' 401K plans, they're not subject to capital gains taxes. This is the VAST majority of investments for the 100 million Americans you're talking about. Obama is referring to cap gains tax increases on the likes of Bill Gates or Warren Buffet, who pay less taxes percentage wise on most of their income, since that's from investment gains, than their secretaries do on their wages. Please check your facts.
