She was badly hurt after a horrible accident at the Rolex Three Day Event, but after spending more than two weeks recovering at UK Hospital, Laine Ashker is almost well enough to go home.

She was competing in the cross-country event when her horse, Frodo, suddenly fell. The horse had to be put down. Laine Ashker suffered injuries to her face and chest and was rushed to the hospital.

Rolex Riders wear safety helmets and protective vests on the cross-country course. The Lexington Herald Leader reports 12 riders have died worldwide in the sport, but fans say the risks are part of the sport.
