Thousands lose power in Madison County during snow

MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - During the winter storm that moved across Kentucky Thursday night, thousands of people lost power in the Richmond area.

As of 12:30 a.m. Friday, around 2,500 Kentucky Utilities customers in Madison County were in the dark.

According to Kentucky Utilities, many of the outages were along the Eastern By-Pass between Lancaster Avenue and Interstate 75.

There's no word what caused the outage.

Kentucky Utilities estimates power in most areas will be restored by 1:30 a.m.

UPDATE:
As of 8 a.m. Friday, There are nearly 100 KU customers without power in Richmond around the Eastern Bypass, I-75 area..
In Lexington, 136 are without power in the Sandersville Road area. There are 148 without power in the Harp Court area of Georgetown.
