LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Democrats David Boswell and Reid Haire have been on the same political side in the past. But now they are facing off as competitors for the 2nd District congressional seat.

Each points to his government experience - Boswell as a longtime state legislator and former state agriculture commissioner; Haire as Daviess County judge-executive.

The winner of the primary will face Republican state Sen. Brett Guthrie of Bowling Green in November. The conservative district features a mix of mostly small towns and farms, and reaches into suburbs near Louisville.

The district was a Democratic stronghold until 1994, when Republican newcomer Ron Lewis won the seat. For years, Lewis beat a series of Democratic challengers but pulled out before this year's filing deadline in January.
