Woman Charged With Smuggling, Distributing OxyContin In Jail

GREENUP, KY -- A Flatwoods woman has been indicted for allegedly smuggling OxyContin into the Greenup County Detention Center and distributing it to other inmates, reports the Ashland Daily Independent.

Grand jurors returned a true bill earlier this month charging Elizabeth Conley, 32, with one count of first-degree promoting contraband. The charge is a Class D felony that carries a prison sentence of one to five years, reports the Daily Independent.

The alleged incident occurred on Christmas day while Conley was an inmate of the detention center, according to the indictment. It wasn’t immediately known what she was serving time for.

Conley also was charged with one count of second-degree persistent felony offender, reports the Ashland Daily Independent.
