LOUISA, Ky. (AP) -- An eastern Kentucky police chief and a police officer will resign their positions by the end of June as part of a plea agreement.
Chief Kevin "K.T." Adkins and Sgt. Barry Bellomy are charged with first- and second-degree official misconduct. Bellomy was accused of ignoring a police call while at the home of a former Big Sandy News reporter Roberta Blevins.
Both Adkins and Bellomy were also accused of harassing Blevins.
The officers were accused of trying to convince Blevins to surrender tape recordings of an interview with Commonwealth's Attorney Anna Melvin which included information about charges against them as well as off the record comments.
Lawrence County Attorney Mike Hogan says he expects both to resign from the Louisa Police Department by June 30.
