It was an emotional Memorial Day ceremony. Local war veterans shared their day of remembrance with the memory of Daniel Wood.
Many gathered at the American Legion Post 109 Hardin-Browning in Falmouth Sunday afternoon, not only to honor fallen comrades but also to remember the young life lost in a tragic bus crash early this month.
Daniel Wood's mother was present to receive a special plaque recognizing her sons accomplishments in Pendleton County's Navy Junior ROTC.
His former, fellow cadets were also there, confident Daniel was watching from afar.
"He was here, he was in our hearts, he was watching and probably giving a big 'oooh rah', that's our motto, we're Navy. I know he was, he was sitting on a cloud watching us", said friend Monaca Keeton.
With permission of Woods mother the ROTC cadets of Pendleton County High School will soon be setting up a memorial at the crash site.
