Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County has become well known for its annual Memorial Day ceremony.
Another big crowd attended this year's event, with many stopping by to lay a wreath at the gravesite of a love one.
Retired Marine Corps Colonel Gary Bradley was the guest speaker at the event which was attended by many veterans of armed conflicts going back to World War II. As part of the ceremony there was a 21 gun salute and the playing of taps.
After the service, 14-Year-Old Marina Hillis completed her mission of placing 5,000 carnations at the graves of fallen soldier.
This is the second year the Nicholasville teenager has done the project. This year she came up short on her fundraising goal, but her grandparents pitched in to help finance the project.
