Rounds of showers and thunderstorms could cause issues across the region Saturday. Damaging winds, large hail and a few tornadoes will be possible.
In Southern Kentucky, a Whitley County Sheriff's Deputy has been involved in a bad crash. It happened just before 10 o'clock Monday night on Highway 26.
Sheriff Lawrence Hodge says Deputy Ronnie Bowling was hit head-on by a suspected drunk driver. Hodge says witnesses on the scene said the driver never applied his brakes.
Hodge says Bowling had to be cut out of his cruiser, then rushed to a Corbin hospital. He says Bowling underwent hip replacement surgery this afternoon.
The driver of the other vehicle, 43-year-old Jerry Ridner, was also taken to the hospital. Hodge says he will face charges once released.
Hodge wants Ridner to be charged with assault, along with the DUI charge he is already facing.
