FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Senate has rejected the House's proposals to fund and overhaul Kentucky's pension plans for government retirees.

The Republican-controlled chamber on Thursday first refused to consider the Democratically sponsored bill to stabilize pension funds through lottery games and slot-like machines at horse tracks.

The Senate based its rejection not on a vote but on a legislative rule that requires 60 of the 100 House members to pass a revenue measure during a short legislative session. The House passed the bill Wednesday 52-47.

The Senate then rejected by voice vote the House's plan to overhaul retiree benefits. Senators said the plan ignores a bipartisan task force's recommendations and removes a Senate provision to create a 401(k)-like plan for new hires.

___

The legislation is Senate Bill 2 and House Bill 416.
