Teenager Shot, Killed At Early Morning Louisville Party

LOUISVILLE, KY -- A teenager was fatally shot in the 8500 block of Standing Oak Drive in Louisville early this morning, according to police.

The Louisville Courier-Journal reports in its Sunday edition that a 16- or 17-year-old male was shot at about 1:20 a.m. during a party at the Red Oak Apartment complex. Officer Phil Russell, a spokesman for the Louisville Metro Police Department, said the teen was driven to a hospital nearby, and was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived, reports the C-J.

It was not clear if the shooting was an accident or deliberate, Russell said, but the investigation is being handled as a homicide. No further information was immediately available.

Anyone with information about the shooting should call 574-LMPD. Callers can remain anonymous, reports the Louisville Courier-Journal.
