Beshear Forms "Open-Government" Task Force

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Gov. Steve Beshear has created a task force to recommend ways to make state government more open for public scrutiny.

Beshear said Friday the group will suggest how to create "one-stop" access tools allowing Kentuckians to more easily track state spending and state programs.

Task force members include members of state government as well as representatives from such groups as the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and Common Cause of Kentucky. Secretary of State Trey Grayson or his designee will also serve on the group.

Grayson is planning to announce his own open-government initiative Monday. His spokesman, Les Fugate, says he'll announce that the secretary of state's office will start listing its expenditures online so Kentuckians can more easily track spending.
