Motorcycle, Car Accident Kills One, Injures Two

PIKEVILLE, KY -- Kentucky State Police are investigating a motorcycle versus car accident that occured Saturday afternoon killing one person and injuring two others near Dorton In Pike County.

KSP Trooper Melissa Hampton investigated the mishap and reports a motorcycle operated by a Gregory Damron of Lick Fork with passenger Sheila Damron was traveling north of U. S. 23 shortly after 5 p.m. when they crashed into a vehicle driven by Lisa Cantrell. The K.S.P. reports Cantrell apparently pulled into the path of the motorcycle.

Trooper Hampton says Lisa Cantrell, age and address not reported, was transported by ambulance to Pikeville Medical Center. Her condition was not reported in a KSP news release.

Gregory and Sheila Damron, ages and relationship not reported, were transported via helicopter to Holston Valley Hospital in Tennessee.

Sheila Damron was pronounced dead at the hospital by Doctor Jason Dunn. Gregory Damron's condition was not reported in the news release. The accident continues under investigation.

Other agencies involved in assisting at the accident scene were the Dorton Volunteer Fire Department, the Shelby Creek Rescue Squad and the Pike County Sheriff's Department.
