Grocery Store Employees Help Police Catch Suspects After Robbery

Thanks to some alert employees, police were able to quickly arrest three people they say robbed a Lexington grocery store Monday afternoon.

It happened at the Save A Lot in the Eastland Shopping Center.

Police say it started after the three suspects tried to shoplift meat and other products from the store.

A manager and employee confronted one of them, and that's when things escalated.

"I had him down on the ground, I had him by his feet," Employee Joe Deitemeyer said. "He kept saying he was going to shoot. I didn't know if he was going to shoot everybody else or what."

When the suspect showed a gun, Deitemeyer says everyone backed away.

But when he ran off, Deitemeyer was able to flag down police.

Police quickly found the two men and woman they say were responsible for the crime at a nearby building.

All three are now under arrest. Police say charges are pending.
