Serve, Protect And Protest

Firefighters, EMS workers, and police in Georgetown say they aren't getting the money, benefits or appreciation they deserve.

The first responders voiced their complaints in the street and at the Georgetown City Council meeting Monday. The workers claim that due to the city's reported budget shortfall they are enduring:pay cuts, benefit cuts and have inferior work equipment. The employees called on city council to remedy the issue.

Many council members sympathized with the first responders, but said there's not much they can do to fix the problems that are most pressing, because money is just too tight. Despite that, the emergency workers made it clear they plan to continue to press the issue.
