Rescue Crews Spend 3 Hours Bringing Crash Victim To Safety

Rescue crews in Estill County spent three hours early Wednesday morning trying to get a trapped man out of his truck.

The driver ran off of Highway 89 South in the Drip Rock Community late Tuesday and into a 30-foot ravine.

A woman driving by saw the Ford F-250 truck and called 911.

Rescue workers say the man was mangled inside the truck.

Rescue crews had to remove the driver's side of the truck and the windshield.

Officials say it's a dangerous road with lots of curves and in a mountainous area.

Rescue workers say the man is from Irvine was airlifted to UK Hospital with serious leg injuries.

They say he was alert and talking to workers during the ordeal.

He's expected to survive.
