LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A man has died in Louisville where he was hit by a train as he walked on railroad tracks.

Police say the man appeared to be in his early 20s. His name hasn't been released.

Louisville police spokesman Dwight Mitchell told The Courier-Journal that the man apparently didn't see or hear the Paducah & Louisville train before it hit him just before 5 p.m. EDT Wednesday in southwestern Jefferson County.

The man was declared dead at the scene.
