A Boyle County mother, who police say allowed her 18-month-old son to ingest cocaine, entered a guilty plea in court Thursday morning.

Ashley Carrier plead guilty to wanton endangerment charges. A judge recommended a four year prison sentence, but she will not have to serve time if she goes through a five year diversion program.

Carrier, and the child's aunt, Jessica Coffman, were arrested last fall.

Coffman was sentenced to three years in prison earlier this week.

Carrier will be back in court on August 5th for final sentencing.

Like I said before, whether the drug was prescription or not, the parents should suffer consequences. Are your cleaning items put away? are your meds out of reach? I am sure they are, as they should be, when there are children around. A baby less than 2 should not be able to reach anything like that, a 6 yr old should not be able to. Protect our children. Lisa, I am soo glad that you are stepping up to the plate and taking care of these children, but that does not mean these girls should not do time for their actions.

No one is saying this is just a little accident. Don't misunderstand the comments about the mother and the aunt. They are expected to be responsible for what happened to the boy. But what is being said is that you are basing your assumptions about the "truth" from what you have heard in the press. If it will sell newspapers or get you to watch their TV station and commercials, they will twist the truth however it suits their needs. We are just trying to point out that the family knows what happened. The lawyers and the judge who have seen the evidence also know the truth. I guess the police in Danville have never made mistakes in the processing of supposed drug dealers. Or would admit to the fact that things got turned around. Certainly with the boy's safety being the first concern, this was the focus as it should be. But I am looking at the news items here and terrible things happen to all of us. These girls aren't monsters. Careless and irresponsible yes. Evil, no.
