Police in Bourbon County are warning people to be on alert tonight.

A teenager in the North Middletown community was approached by a man twice this week on her way to a summer feeding program and that incident has police investigating.

A community food drive takes place Monday through Friday on this lot on Static Drive in North Middletown, and it's the site of what Bourbon County authorities are describing as a suspicious incident that happened two days in a row.

The Bourbon Co. Superintendent of Schools tells us a 14 year old girl was walking in this area yesterday when a man said something to her from his car in a language she couldn't understand, but she still ran away. Today, the girl was with her mother in the same general area when they saw the same car again, and this time the man quickly drove off.

No one is ready to label all this anything any more than suspicious. Major Michael Jones still has not interviews the girl or her mother, saying his first priority is to alert the communtiy to be careful.

"Always be aware of what's going on around you, always walk in pairs, and don't go out after dark," he says.

The Sheriff's office will be stepping up patrols in the area at least for the foreseeable future.

That summer feeding program takes places every weekday from 11:30 to 1:30 in Bourbon County, and residents should be extra careful.
