Two Kentucky Jail Escapees Caught, Two Still On At Large

NEWPORT, Ky. (AP) - Four inmates, including a man charged with attempted murder, escaped from a Kentucky jail by tearing through an air conditioning vent and making their way across a roof, a jailer said.

Two of the inmates were caught Saturday near the Campbell County jail after escaping the night before, while the other two remain at large, Chief Deputy Jailer Jim Daley told The Cincinnati Enquirer. Cambell County is located in northern Kentucky along the border with Ohio.

Jorge Zetina Gomez, 34, is charged with attempted murder, and Robert Lee Ashbrook, 38, was serving time for unlawful transaction, violating probation and being a fugitive from another state.

Bruce Allen Rawn, 22, and Branden Edward Day, 18, have been captured. Details of the capture were not immediately available.

Daley said the four Campbell County inmates went though a bathroom ceiling vent, tore through an air conditioning vent and escaped by a roof top.

He said the vents are being replaced with steel bars. "I'm pretty confident we'll be changing some of our personnel issues as a result of this," he said.
