A busy road in Madison County has reopened after a deadly, fiery crash involving a car and a semi.
The vehicles collided around 9:00 p.m. Sunday night on Highway 627 near Interstate 75, exit 95.
Rescue workers say the semi had just fueled up before the crash and that may have caused numerous explosions and the resulting fire.
Kentucky State Police say a passenger car was on the shoulder of the road at a private drive when its driver pulled out into the path of the semi.
The driver of the car, Mary VanWinkle of Richmond, died on the scene.
The driver of the semi escaped the fire.
Emergency workers say 200 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway after crash.
The road reopened shortly before 5:30 a.m. Monday.
