CANNELTON, Ind. (AP) - Indiana Conservation officers say a 29-year-old fisherman drowned in the Ohio River as he and two friends were attempting to return to shore during a thunderstorm.
Authorities say Derrick Adams of Taswell drowned in the river near the Cannelton Dam Sunday afternoon after the 14-foot boat began to take on water and he attempted to swim to the Kentucky shore.
Adams' two companions, Ross Polen and Josh Decker, were able to
cling to a single life vest until they were rescued.
Indiana Conservation officers later recovered Adams' body after
locating it with a sonar device.
