General showers will be the main action over the next few hours. A few could remain on the strong to severe side in eastern parts of Kentucky.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - An investigation is underway into a fire that damaged a Lexington apartment Friday.
The fire broke out just after 6:30 p.m. along Laketower Drive, off Lakeshore Drive.
Firefighters say the fire started inside the kitchen of the apartment, and they were able to get it under control shortly after they arrived.
"The fire was contained to the kitchen, so there was significant damage to that part of the apartment," Lexington Fire Department Battalion Chief Jeff Nantz said. "The rest of the apartment is pretty much going to be uninhabitable for a few days until they can get in there and get the smoke odor out."
Firefighters aren't yet sure what caused the fire.
People in neighboring apartments were evacuated as a precaution, but they were later allowed to go back home.
