Man Killed During Standoff With Police

Kentucky State Police are investigating a deadly, police-involved shooting in Milton in Trimble County.

Police were called to a home there for a domestic disturbance early Wednesday which escalated into a standoff.

Police say when they arrived at the scene, 47-year-old Jack Berressem pulled out a gun and fired several shots at officers. Police say he then barricaded himself in the home while continuing to fire shots.

About two and a half hours after arriving on the scene, police say Berressem came out of the house, still shooting at police. At that time, police shot and killed him.

Lieutenant Fred Williams and Sergeant Howard Rice have been placed on administrative duty while the investigation is being done. Both are 10 year veterans with the force.
