New CentrePointe design approved for downtown Lexington

A meeting Wednesday ended with a decision on how CentrePointe could change the look and feel of downtown Lexington.

The design, which includes a 19-story hotel, a 10-story office building, and a 7-story apartment building was approved Wednesday afternoon by the Courthouse Area Design Review Board.

Developer Dudley Webb tells us he's just happy to have this last hurdle completed.

"We intended anyway to come back with refinements. Remember, it's a process. We have to go next to our tenants, they'll have ideas, the hotel will have ideas, the restaurants will have ideas, and those all require us to come back anyway so that's just part of the process," said Webb.

Webb did confirm for WKYT that a Marriott Hotel will be a part of the project, along with Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse.

Construction is expected to begin in October.
