Tickets to Big Blue Madness sell out in 30 minutes

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - All tickets to the 2013 Big Blue Madness were given away in the first 30 minutes of availability Saturday morning.

The giveaway started at 7 a.m. Saturday outside Memorial Coliseum. For many that camped out days in advance, the journey is just as exciting as the destination.

"This is my fifth year doing it. I love doing it. It's a good experience. Get to hang out with the players, they come down and play corn hole. Go up on the basketball court, get to play some basketball, free pizza," said veteran camper Robert Beckett.

"I don't want to say it's more fun, but it's a lot of fun because you get to you know play corn hole and get balls signed and it's just a lot of fun to hang out with your friends and make new ones too," noted fan Chelsea Bolton.

Within minutes of fans getting tickets in their hands, we started seeing sales pop up online, some seats priced at more than $1,000 each. Selling tickets higher than face value is illegal in Kentucky. Fans we talked to weren't concerned about sales.

"We're not selling them either," exclaimed Bolton of her front row seats.

Big Blue Madness is the first open practice opportunity for Kentucky's 2013-14 basketball teams and is scheduled for Friday, October 18th. This will be the ninth time Madness has been held at Rupp Arena.
