LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A gas leak in downtown Lexington forced crews to shut down a street overnight and into the hours of the morning commute on Thursday.
Firefighters say a construction crew hit a gas line near the intersection of West Main and South Upper around seven Wednesday night.
Firefighters had to shut down part of South Upper, so crews could make repairs. The scene was still abuzz with workers around 6:00AM on Thursday, and the street could be closed as late as noon.
Columbia Gas officials tell us the line was made of cast iron, so it took a little longer to make repairs.
No one had to be evacuated because of the leak.
