It's a popular time to hit the road and normally a time when Kentucky State Police would be seen driving up and down our highways, but that's not the case this year.
Rising gas prices has forced police to stay put more than they might be used to, still they are confident the results will be the same even if they let the drivers come to them.
Some drivers told 27 NEWSFIRST they've noticed a substantial amount of police parked in the medians on the interstate.
They also say just because they are trying to save gas doesn't mean they won't hesitate to use some fuel to catch a speeder or a reckless driver.
Those same drivers also say they welcome the KSP doing whatever it takes to make sure everyone is safe on the roads this Independence day Weekend.
