Dispatchers in Harrison County receive dozens of calls asking about cancellations

CYNTHIANA, Ky. (WKYT) - With so many weather-related cancellations over the weekend, many people were left wondering what was open and closed.

However, some people in Harrison County ended up going to the wrong place for answers.

The Cynthiana-Harrison County Dispatch Center reported having more than 60 calls asking about cancellations. Most of those were asking about the annual Christmas parade being held Saturday, and if it was cancelled.

While dispatchers want to help those in the area, they say folks called the wrong number.

"The number of calls that aren't real important probably don't need to come in to the center, especially on a weekend with the weather as bad as it was," Cynthiana Police Chief Ray Johnson said.

Dispatchers say those people actually called the county's administrative phone number, but on the weekends, those calls are routed to dispatchers.

Dispatchers actually went on Facebook at one point, asking people to stop calling with questions about cancellations.
